Here's the
story. He ruptured a tendon in his ankle running the bases today. This is so
sad. He's still a Hall-of-Famer for his dominance in his Seattle years, but
it's positively strange the way the injuries have gone in the last three or so
years.
It doesn't help that Austin Kearns isn't healthy, and I think Sean Casey is in a
similar "nagging injury" boat. Griffey or no Griffey, the Reds were pretty much
done for the season anyway, even if they're not that far back, but this loss
should preclude any trades of the future for the now on the part of Jim Bowden.
