I like Noah, but wasn't Amare's "nominal" guarding of other big men a pretty important issue in terms of why the Suns never got to the finals? If only they had a young big man with a strong defensive presence, like Tyson Chand... oh, darn.

Lot of Swisher in that list....too bad the rest of the A's offense is only so-so, although I'm pleased to see Dan Johnson off to a great start - I always liked him and felt he had quality at bats.

I love the blog that you have. I was wondering if you would link my blog to yours and in return I would do the same for your blog. If you want to, my site name is American Legends and the URL is:

www.americanlegends.blogspot.com

If you want to do this just go to my blog and in one of the comments just write your blog name and the URL and I will add it to my site.

Thanks,

    Jason,

The missing plays are just from 200 games in 1957-1973 and mostly in the NL. It means we don't have complete numbers for Aaron or Clemente, but anyone from 74 on we have the full numbers.

You're absolutely right and the geographical boundaries of Harlem.

In my defense, Ralph Ellison apparently said, "Wherever Negroes live uptown is considered Harlem." (At least he did according to Wikipedia.)

I hope you're not disappointed to hear this, but Columbia is decidedly Not in Harlem. Although Harlem stretches down to 96th street on the East side, on the West side it ends at 125th, which puts Columbia in "Morningside" instead. But you're right, it does have a safe-feeling little "halo" as you put it, and not all of Morningside is like that.

I sometimes suspect that the halo really surrounds Riverside Church, and Barnard and Columbia just have the pleasure of basking in it. ;)

Happy New Year, and see you back at school!

I agree with Todd. It certainly seems that this is an issue that deals with something that is so deeply embedded that no one really seems to be aware of it.

The players are wearing uniforms on the court, which is where they work; what difference does it make if they aren't wearing uniforms when they arrive/leave/sitting a game out?

As a fan of the game for ten years, I can't say that I really care enough about what they're doing off court. I'm sure my opinion is certainly not the opinion of the majority, but I still feel as though it's a valid point. I watch basketball because I want to see basketball; I don't want to see the father of five kids that down the road from me. I don't want to see the young man that was accused of rape in Colorado a few years back. I want to see BASKETBALL player. The NBA is giving in to way too many people.

    Oy Vey...Poor Dusty.

He has no idea, does he? he used to bat Barry Bonds FIFTH. That's right, he anted FOUR guys up to the plate more often than Barry Bonds.

Sounds like Billy's first choice.

On Tuesday August 1, 2006, Digital Mind Corporation removed the XClef 500 and 800 (all capacities) from their catalogue of products.

I own 2 100-gig XClef 500s, the oldest is about 10 months old. They both work fine. I've dropped the first one I bought a couple of times and it still works. Don't let me hold your newborn baby!

I'm sad DMC has given up the XClef line.

The advice X gave here about pressing the Stop button helped me huge! I read his entry before I got my first player and I've never had a problem shutting the player down.

The ONLY time the XClef has ever frozen up on me is when I press a button while the hard disk is being accessed to load a song (or more of the same song) into memory. Since the player has an icon that appears when the hard disk is being accessed, I now make sure that the icon isn't showing before I touch the buttons. However, sometimes you'll press a button and the icon will suddenly appear coincidentally and THAT'S when it will freeze.

By the way, forget playlists with the XClef 500. Song filenames are truncated after so many (I never counted) letters and any playlist you use must contain the truncated filenames. This is stupid because a LOT of songs have long titles (especially in classical) or long artist names.
