Jeff Sullivan on the Kazmir trade

Continuing
the
link
roundup,
here's
Jeff
Sullivan
at
FanGraphs
on
the
Kazmir
trade.
There's
an
interesting
bit
on
Nottingham's
spray
charts
showing
that
he
may
have
legitimate
power,
not
just
low-minors
pull
power,
which
is
encouraging.
I
don't
know
the
data
source
of
that
spray
data
(in
the
sense
that
I
don't
know
where
MLB
Farm
gets
its
ball-in-play
data,
how
accurate
it
is,
etc.),
but
even
if
we're
talking
about
humans
putting
down
dots
on
a
screen
approximating
where
the
ball
landed,
the
roughness
of
that
type
of
charting
is
okay
--
after
all,
we're
just
looking
at
whether
Nottingham
appears
to
hit
the
ball
to
right
field
with
some
measure
of
authority,
not
his
average
fly-ball
distance
or
anything
so
fine-grained
as
that.
